The Establishment and Growth of TAAIF

The Tamilnadu Automobile and Allied Industries Federation (TAAIF) was established in 1982 through the collaborative efforts of six visionary associations: The Madras Motor Parts Dealers' Association, Salem Motor Parts Dealers Association, The Coimbatore Motor Parts Dealers Association, Tamilnadu Diesel Pump Repairers Association, The Tamilnadu Motor Parts Dealers Association, and The Trichy Auto Parts Dealers Association. These associations came together in Chennai with the shared vision of promoting and strengthening the automobile industry across Tamil Nadu.

The Federation was founded to unite the scattered automobile spare parts associations under a single umbrella, ensuring a common voice to protect the interests of dealers throughout the state. It has consistently represented members on matters relating to Commercial Taxes, Labour Laws, the Package Commodities Act, and other trade-related issues.

Institutional Leadership and Progress

The Charter President of TAAIF was Mr. K.R. Raghavan, who, along with several distinguished industry leaders, laid the foundation for a strong and united Federation. Over the years, TAAIF has grown steadily and today proudly represents 28 Member Associations spanning from Chennai to Kanyakumari.

Among the Federation's respected patrons, Bheeshma Pithmaha, Vahana Rathna Shri S. Narayanan, Executive Director of Madras Auto Service, played a significant role in guiding and strengthening the organization.

Advocacy and Regulatory Engagement

TAAIF has always worked closely with the Government by supporting beneficial policies while strongly opposing regulations that adversely affected the automobile spare parts trade. The Federation successfully represented the interests of its members in matters such as Entry Tax and Form 21, contributing to their withdrawal.

Since its inception, the administrative office of TAAIF has been managed by the Madras Motor Parts Dealers' Association from Unit 311, Alpha Wing, Raheja Towers, 177, Anna Salai, Chennai – 2.

To encourage equal participation among member associations, TAAIF introduced a Zonal Leadership System, enabling capable leaders from different regions to serve as President while ensuring smooth leadership transitions and organizational harmony.

Several specialized committees—including Sales Tax, Legal Affairs, Finance, and Membership Development—were established to provide timely support to members. Since its formation, Mr. R. Chandramowlee of the Madras Motor Parts Dealers' Association has served as Chairman of the Sales Tax Committee, acting as an effective bridge between TAAIF and the Taxation Authorities of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

On 1st February 2026, during the tenure of President A. Gopalakrishnan, TAAIF inaugurated its own dedicated building in Madurai, marking another milestone in the Federation's journey of unity, growth, and service.

To further strengthen communication and support the business growth of its members, TAAIF has launched its official website. The platform simplifies information sharing, enhances networking opportunities, and serves as a comprehensive digital resource for the automobile spare parts industry.
