TAAIF - Tamilnadu Automobile and Allied Industries Federation

Decades ago, in 1982 a spark ignited in a meeting of Trichy Auto Parts Dealers’ Association spread its flames in the thoughts of the then President and Secretary of the Madras Motor Parts Dealers Association, who were on a visit to Trichy. Under the aegis of Mr K.R. Raghavan, the Managing Director of “IMPAL’, a slew of members from various Automobile Associations spread in Tamilnadu met at Chennai Connemara Hotel, and formed a Federation christened as “The Tamilnadu Automobile and Allied Industries Federation”.

The purpose of starting this Federation was to create a synthesis of thoughts and deeds, to bring the scattered and various Associations in different cities and towns of Tamilnadu come together under one umbrella. The idea was to take care of the interests of all automobile spare parts dealers that are confined to Tamilnadu, in the matters of Commercial Taxes, Labor Laws, Package Commodities Act and the like.

The Charter President was Mr K.R. Raghavan and many stalwarts, giants in the trade who created a legend for themselves had decorated the post of President of the Federation. They were the architects of this great Federation which in the rolling years has grown from strength to strength and today with 26 Member Associations in its fold right from Chennai to Kanyakumari is a force to reckon with.

Notable among the Patrons who was always a source of strength and to whom we looked up to for all our desires and expectations were Bheeshma Pithmaha, Vahana Rathna Shri S. Narayanan, Executive Director of Madras Auto Service.

The Federation supports the Government in all the laws that are enacted in the benefit of our trade and strongly creates an impression of dissent when they are malaise to us. Many instances like bringing entry tax to Tamilnadu, Form 21 A etc were opposed by our Federation and we fought tooth and nail with the Tamilnadu Government to get them rescinded. Right from the inception of TAAIF, Madras Motor Parts Dealers’ Association housed, nurtured and managed the TAAIF Administrative Office which functions from Unit 311, Alpha Wing, Raheja Towers, 177, Anna Salai, Chennai – 2.

To give equal opportunity to every Association to adorn the chair of President of our Federation and also identify the capable and worthy leadership to come up the ladder of leadership our Federation has devised the Zonal system of accepting responsibilities and this is working very well avoiding confrontation, misunderstanding and it is the smoothest, seamless transfer of the mantle of leadership.

This is the year (2018-2020) when Trichy Auto Parts Dealers Association is in the throne and Mr P. Murugesan is given the mantle of Presidency of TAAIF for two years.
